What Autoimmune Disease Doesn’t Take From Me

This morning I went in for a thyroid ultrasound.
Nothing dramatic. Just another appointment. Another test. Another reminder that living with Hashimoto’s means paying attention to my body.
But as I was getting ready this morning, I realized something.
I still got dressed.
I still did my hair.
I still walked into that appointment as myself.
BUT DID YOU KNOW???
Nearly 80% of people living with autoimmune disease are women. Hashimoto’s alone affects women seven to ten times more often than men.
Yet so many of us spend years wondering if we’re imagining things.
The fatigue.
The skin changes.
The inflammation.
The itching.
The feeling that your body doesn’t quite feel like your own.
I’ve learned that managing an autoimmune condition isn’t just about medication, blood work, ultrasounds, or lab numbers. It’s also about refusing to hand over your identity to it.
That’s part of why I created Highnmighty in the first place.
I was looking for simple things that helped me feel better in my own skin.
Not a miracle.
Just support.
Real-life support for real-life bodies.
If you’re navigating Hashimoto’s, perimenopause, another autoimmune condition, or simply a season where your body feels unfamiliar, I hope you remember this:
You are still you.
The diagnosis isn’t your identity.
The symptoms aren’t your identity.
The lab results aren’t your identity.
Take care of yourself. Advocate for yourself. Listen to your body.
But don’t disappear.
XOXO,
